A Few Notes 9-14-18

Off

Hello Brethren!

Just some thoughts… “If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid?” (Amos 3:6).

Hurricane Florence is on its way. Thankfully it has continued to be downgraded, but it may still pose quite
a bit of danger to Charlotte. At minimum, there could be power outages and
other challenges.

How prepared are we?

We can never be fully prepared without God’s help, but we definitely have a major part to play in
being prepared.

Here are some steps we still have time to take if we haven’t already taken action, or they may simply
add to the things we’ve already done.

  • Pray for God’s protection and mercy
  • Get loose items out of your yard (patio furniture, doormats, potted
         plants, trashcans, etc.)
  • Fill up car(s)
  • Fill up propane tank(s) (if you have a grill)
  • Make sure to have drinking water to last for several days
  • Make sure to have non-perishable canned food for several days
  • Fill up the bathtub with water (this can be used for cleaning,
         etc.)
  • Get ice for the cooler (to possible save some food from the
         refrigerator)
  • Fully charge all of your electronic devices
    • If power goes out, put your devices in “low power mode” and use only when necessary
  • Make sure to have good batteries for fans or flashlights
  • Get matches or lighters
  • Make sure you have good flashlights
  • Know how to turn off your water, gas, power if needed
  • Get valuables away from windows

These are only a few of the things we can do.

This weekend’s situation may or may not be bad. But, we know for sure at some point in the future it will be very bad! God is mercifully giving us a chance to get ready and at least learn how to do it now. There will be a time when it is too late, and we want to make sure to be ready when it comes. As God’s people, if we hear the trumpet, we must take
action!

The trumpet has been blowing for a week or so now in regard to this hurricane. And thankfully, it’s still not too late!

Be safe, have restful Sabbath, and we’ll see you on the Day of Atonement.

Warm regards,

Mike DeSimone
